At Rosglas Recovery, we take pride in offering a truly unique therapy retreat experience, one designed to deliver profound healing in the most private and luxurious settings.
To give you a deeper insight into what drives our founder, Anthony O’Brien, and how Rosglas Recovery operates, we sat down with him for a candid conversation about his journey, vision, and philosophy.

Q: Anthony, what inspired you to create this unique one-on-one luxury therapy retreat?
Anthony: I first encountered the one-on-one therapy model when I worked in Zurich in 2011. Lowell Monkhouse created the approach when he set up the Kusnacht Practice in 2009. I became clinical director and we developed the model over the following four years.
I was excited by the potential of this approach—it allowed us to provide the highest level of therapeutic care by focusing exclusively on one person. However, as demand grew, the model expanded to accommodate multiple clients at a time, and I felt we were losing the original core principle.
That’s what led me to return to Ireland and establish Rosglas Recovery in 2015, where we could stay true to the one-on-one philosophy.
Q: How do you envision the future of your therapy retreats?
Anthony: Our priority has always been to provide the best possible therapeutic care to one person at a time. That commitment won’t change.
We are constantly working to improve our services while maintaining our core values—recovery and treatment first, business second. We will continue to treat just one guest at a time, ensuring true exclusivity and privacy, with no exceptions.
Q: What makes your therapy retreat different from other luxury therapy centers?
Anthony: The main difference is that we never take more than one client at a time. This exclusivity allows us to provide the highest level of care. Each client has a private care team of 15 to 20 specialists, creating a staff-to-client ratio of at least 15:1.
This approach limits us to treating only six to eight people per year, but it ensures that every client receives undivided attention and a care plan tailored specifically to their needs.
Q: How do you ensure the privacy and discretion of your clients during their stay?
Anthony: With just one client in residence at any time, we can fully protect their privacy. They will never encounter another guest during their stay.
Our residence is located in a private, picturesque setting in the Irish countryside. Our team members are experienced in working with individuals who require the highest level of discretion.
Q: Can you describe the process you use to identify and treat the underlying causes of distress?
Anthony: We begin with a comprehensive assessment process, which includes meetings with our psychiatrist, psychologist, and live-in therapist. Feedback from the entire care team is also incorporated.
Additionally, we perform an in-depth biochemical analysis, including blood, saliva, and sometimes stool tests, to identify any chemical imbalances or deficiencies. This thorough evaluation helps us create an individualized care plan for each client.
Q: How do you select and assemble the team of specialists for each client?
Anthony: We have a core team of experts involved in every case, but we also select certain specialists based on the specific needs of each client.
The choice of live-in therapist is especially important, as this role is central to our delivery of care. We consider which therapist’s approach will best suit the client and create a warm therapeutic alliance. In some cases, we assign two live-in therapists to handle different stages of the process.
Q: What qualifications and expertise do your live-in therapists possess?
Anthony: All our live-in therapists are master’s-level practitioners with extensive experience in the live-in therapy model.
This role requires not only expertise but also empathy and a calm demeanor to provide the necessary support in such an intimate setting.
Q: How do you tailor your therapy retreats to address the specific needs of each client?
Anthony: Our assessment process gives us a detailed understanding of the client’s challenges and resources. From there, we develop a care plan tailored to their specific needs.
This is a dynamic process that evolves throughout the retreat, ensuring the client receives the right support at every stage of their recovery journey.
Q: What amenities and services can clients expect in their 5-star private residence?
Anthony: The residence is absolutely stunning—a private seafront property set on six acres. It features luxurious accommodations, a swimming pool, a spa, and beautiful, relaxing surroundings.
Our private chefs prepare nutritious, delicious meals, and the housekeeping team ensures the environment is always welcoming and comfortable.
Q: How do you ensure the highest levels of comfort and confidentiality for your clients?
Anthony: We’ve created a home-away-from-home atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming. The residence is private, secluded, and secure, offering the best possible environment for anonymity and comfort.
Q: Can you describe the role of the personal chef, maid, and driver in enhancing the client’s experience?
Anthony: Our personal chef works closely with the client and our nutritionist to create meals that are both delicious and tailored to their dietary needs.
The housekeepers maintain a warm, homely environment, and the driver adds a touch of Irish hospitality, often sharing stories and local insights during outings.
Q: How do you maintain a therapeutic and luxurious environment simultaneously?
Anthony: While our hospitality services are of the highest standard, our primary purpose is therapeutic care.
Every team member understands their role within the larger therapeutic process and collaborates closely with the case manager to ensure nothing interferes with the client’s recovery.

Q: What types of therapies and treatments are offered during the retreat?
Anthony: We offer a wide range of therapies, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Equine-Assisted Therapy, Somatic Healing, and more.
We also provide holistic treatments such as massage, acupuncture, yoga, reflexology, and personal training. All these therapies work together to support the client’s healing process.
Q: How do you incorporate the natural beauty of the Irish countryside into the therapeutic process?
Anthony: The natural surroundings are a huge asset. Our location offers tranquil, tree-lined walks and breathtaking views that promote relaxation and reflection.
One visiting psychiatrist from the Middle East once remarked that, out of 30–40 exclusive treatment facilities he’d visited worldwide, none rivalled our accommodation, service, and setting.
Q: What does a typical day look like for a client at your therapy retreat?
Anthony: Each day starts with meditation or a short walk by the sea. This is followed by breakfast and a look at the day’s schedule.
Next is a daily therapy session. Following a period of reflection, the morning is usually completed with personal training or a yoga session. Lunch is served followed by a brief rest.
In the afternoons, experiential therapy, such as Drama or Equine Assisted Therapy, is usually offered. This is usually followed by holistic therapy, a walk in nature, or some time in the spa.
Meals are a highlight, and evenings often end with a relaxing therapy like massage or reflexology. Every day is carefully designed to balance therapeutic work with rest and rejuvenation.
Q: How do you support clients after their stay to ensure lasting results?
Anthony: Post-treatment support is essential.
We provide each client with a continuing care plan that may include online sessions, weekend refreshers, or even a therapist accompanying them home to help with the transition.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering attending your retreat?
Anthony: My first piece of advice is to reach out and ask us any questions you have.
Secondly, I recommend reading “The Story of a Rosglas Client” on our rates page—it’s a heartfelt email from one of our first clients that beautifully captures what we do here.
